Hawaii Tax Day Tea Party!

As many of you know and can imagine, Hawaii is a really laid back community, so I am truly surprised that Hawaii is waking up to the corruption in our government, putting down their surf boards and fishing poles AND protesting.

From Honolulu:

I attended the Kona Tea Party and was amazed at the number of people that attended.  I know it isn’t the Alamo or Atlanta, but 200 people attending is the most I have ever seen endorsing anything!   We all got a great laugh about the anonymous phone call that was made to the police about a disturbance on the side of the road requiring a police officer to come down and find out what was going on.

From Hawaii Free Press:

Hawaii Legislature Passes $4 Billion In New Taxes And Fees ($13,000 Per Family of Four)

State House and Senate members tentatively passed a $4 billion tax increase on the people of Hawaii today on the eve of the largest anti-tax protest in the nation’s history.

The legislature wants every resident in the state of Hawaii to pay more for gas, and more in vehicle registration fees and vehicle weight fees (Senate Bill 1611).

The legislature also passed tax increases which could put hotel employees out of work by increasing the Transient Accommodations Tax. Leaders in the hotel industry say that this new tax would hurt the hotel business and their ability to compete with other tourist destinations, especially during a bad economy. (Senate Bill 1111).

A tax increase was also levied on Internet sales. (Senate Bill 1678)

“This is just wrong,” said Joe Pandolfe, organizer of the Honolulu Tax Day Tea Party tomorrow, from 4-7 p.m. at the State Capitol. “Legislators are clearly not living in the world that we are and do not understand how much the people of Hawaii are suffering. We must put a stop to this.”

Whether the OBamabot crowd wants to admit it or not, these protests were a huge success. CNN and MSNBC tried to make it sound as if no one showed up. I saw the number of people protesting in Chicago, it was over 5,000 people. Anytime they showed film on CNN, they showed small town crowds and tried to make it look like it was a bust. Obama said he didn’t hear anything about the protests. They remind me of the monkey’s with their hands across their eyes and over their ears.

  3. Mary Ellen – there were 7500 people in St. Paul, MN. The media is just beating the drum of the WH and Homeland Security…divide and conquer.

  4. Auburn, Alabama had 600+. It was great. The whole thing was put together by college students & held on the university library lawn.

It made me feel good to know that some of our younger generation do get it. Someone by the street had a “Honk for Capitalism” sign & one could barely hear the speakers over all the noise. Someone even brought a donkey which decided to bray at the worst times.

I had no camera with me. DUH!!!

The MSM can’t stop us now!

I read somewhere last night that Atlanta had 10,000, but I was proud of our effort in Auburn.

    God bless America!

    Thank you, Diamond!

    • Grail – when I got back from my tea party I took a cruise around and saw your report and pics….GR8T! hey, can you email links to the sites that were bashing us protestors? Remember the comment you left? Thanks.

Everyone is talking about more tea partys, this is great, but how do we get past the complacency of many of our friends and co-workers. I’m told everyday that there is nothing that can be done to change the path of the country and that I might as well accept what Obama is doing. This drives me absolutely nuts. Any suggestions?

    Great web site,

    Peace

    • Sparky? Want a suggestion? Lead! Just keep doing what you are doing, go to the tea parties, keep being a pain in the ass to your senators and congressmen. Yeah, they may not be paying attention now, but they will be soon…and writing them and calling them is really going to piss them off after awhile. Do not give up! Stay involved…invite everybody to the next tea party. Tell them why this corrupt government is bankrupting our country and that YES WE WILL TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK. The tea parties are going to slow down the ramming of legislation through until we can vote their asses out! Educate yourself as to why we need to fire congress. All the information you need is here and on other sites in my blog roll. Pretty soon you will find people coming to you to find out what’s going on. LEAD LEAD LEAD!

  6. Sparky,

I found I got a good response when I sent an email promoting the Tea Parties if I focused on Congress and their wasteful ways and steered clear of mentioning Obama. I stated very clearly that it had nothing to do with political parties, but with the obscene spending of our children and grandchildren’s incomes to pay for TARP, Stimulus, and the current budget.

Since everyone here knows Obama is nothing but a distraction anyway, stop focusing on him – he is too divisive an issue. Congress is a big, fat, easy, porky target right now and people seem all too eager to listen when you talk about throwing the bums out. We need to start using strategy to beat TPTB, and I say there’s nothing better than using the same strategy they used against America!

Think Cloward-Piven methods – only, now it’s the Obama/Pelosi government we’ll be breaking apart!

    Thanks for the advice.
