IT’S BAAACK!! The Truth About HR1388, Serve America Act and The Obama Youth Army

********

3/26/09

(as expected, these amendments are being voted down partisan lines)

5:27pm

HR1388, S277 Serve America Act, National Service Programs bill has passed – 78 ayes, 20 nays.  Now we get to watch them pat themselves on the back.

I have started a new thread – main page – go here.

4pm eastern. The Senate is in a quorum call currently and will be holding the vote on Serve America Act later today.

Hatch (R-UT) is complimenting Mikulski on her “leadership” on this bill, and is  very pleased with this bill.  Making his final pitch to get everybody to vote for this bill.  Hatch has been muted on my tv; can’t take anymore of it.

Mikulski (D-Maryland) is moving toward final passage of this bill S277 after National Security Briefing.

Burr (R-NC) amendment cosponsored by Mikulski proposes required FBI database check for all volunteers. Voice vote – ayes have it – amendment is passed.

Vitter (R-LA) amendment – No money to ACORN or it’s affiliates.  Mikulski  (D-Maryland) brutally opposes this amendment (ranting away).  The vote is to kill this amendment – yays53- nays43.  Amendment has been killed and taxpayer money will be going to ACORN.

Update: voting on Baucus (D)  amendment – passed.  Thune (R-SD) amendment next up (Continue 35% tax deduction rate for charitable contributions) – struck down 49-48.

Update: Kirsten Gillibrand is gushing about this bill, “…harness millions of American minds…”  Go here for interesting info on Mrs. Gillibrand.  Also, Mrs. Gillibrand is an alumni of Davis, Polk & Wardwell who visits the Monster often and who is the firm that Annette Nazareth of “withdrawing from the Deputy Treasury Secretary fiasco” is a partner.  Annette Nazareth had a formidable role at the SEC in changing the rules that created the derivative problem we are now facing.

Update: 3/26/09 – Voting on Amendments to this bill will continue at 2:30pm eastern today.

Update: 6:38am 3/26/09: More debate today – this is tracking with the “vote later this week” comment I saw somewhere in my travels.  I will continue to update this post as the day progresses.

********

(Update: The Senate is still debating this bill.  No vote as of yet.  The votes that they have had today are all on amendments.  As an aside – America is waking up; I had over 800 “searches” yesterday for HR1388 and today the little site is up to over 300 for HR1388 and S277.  America IS waking up and the Congress better start paying attention.)

For those of you (and you know who you are – 46 times on the same page) who are still using IE 6.0….WTF?  Time to change to Firefox.

March 25, 2009 1:21 am Eastern

There are reports floating around the Internet that the GIVE ACT (HR1388)/National Service Reauthorization Act (S3577)/Serve America Act (S277)  has been passed by the Senate in a 74-14 vote according to Kate Phillips of The Obama NY Times.  Sorry for those of you that want us to stop burning up the Senate’s switchboard and are using Obama’s primary voter suppression tactics with the following article.  S277 – Serve America Act HAS NOT BEEN VOTED ON YET. I am not putting up the link for good reason; Google the title of the Obama Times article by Kate Phillips.

Now pay attention people:

The House passed HR1388 last week, S3577 was voted cloture on the 19th, and now has been bundled into S277 and is expected to be voted on “later this week”.   It almost seems like they want to confuse you, huh?

National Service Corps Bill Clears Senate Hurdle

Following overwhelming House passage last week, the Senate tonight voted 74 to 14 on a procedural move that essentially guarantees a major expansion of a national service corps, a cornerstone of volunteerism that dates back to the era of President Kennedy. It’s akin to a call to arms by President Obama, who has harkened back to those early days to demand giving back by those who voted for him.

The NY Times wants you to believe that this is a done deal and everything is over.  Look at the wording, “…the Senate tonight voted 74 to 14 on a procedural move“….  Want to see what they actually voted on?  The cloture motion to stop debate and filibustering.

  1. Thank God! I was hoping that info I sent last night was wrong. I had checked at opencongress.org & it had shown no vote yet. Should have stayed up & done more looking, but couldn’t hold my eyes open anymore.

    Thank you, Diamond!

    God bless America!

  2. Genie,

I was so tired after looking and piecing everything together, I do not think this post is very good – but I believe the information to be true and accurate.

Make sure to watch or record Cspan Senate today.

  3. Oh, geez, Diamond. I don’t have cable or a dish, but will check in here multiple times like I always do, as well as congress.org & opencongress.

The post is great, as usual. Hon, you’ve got to rest some! Take care of yourself!

    God bless America!

  4. celestialdragonfly says:

OK above it says that the bill was introduced Jan 15, and then on another block above that it says it was introduced Jan 16th…I’m a bit confused here….also wasn’t that before Obama took office and was sworn in? Something doesn’t sit right with me….of coarse it hasn’t since I first came across this little gem…. Is anyone else bothered by this…or am I missing something important…maybe it’s just too early in the morning for me!

  5. dragonfly – this bill was introduced on January 15, and then went to committee (changed) on January 16th.

  6. Besides all…this would be a major “Obama Achievement” right? Wouldn’t it be all over the major MSM and newspapers?

  7. Obviously TPTB are meeting more resistance than they expected (give us a big pat on the back!), since they’re literally throwing anything they can think of at us to distract us. Even Obama’s sales pitch last night is getting tepid reviews at best.

We need to stay strong and stay loud! We are having an impact!

  8. Completely OT, but are any of you opening my page and getting layers of pages of this site? Let me know – I am getting reports and I think it may be an IE problem, but I am trying to track it down.

    Mahalo!

The site’s working fine for me but I’m using Firefox.

  10. lee M. says:

    IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diamond, I am about to burst a blood vessel. Maybe this has something to do with JP Morgan and other bankers spending so much time on your site. It could explain why they are so interested in your post on the GIVE Act.

I thought I knew my history. I either forgot this or didn’t know about it in the first place. When I went to my email a little while ago I found the usual post I always get from No Quarter. The following link was included. I nearly dropped by coffee cup. This will be most interesting to those of us who are buying precious metals. It could also explain why there is such a concerted attempt to hide from us this GIVE Act, and what it could actually mean if Obama is able ato get his own little Gestapo going.

Franklin Roosevelt confiscated all the gold and silver that private citizens had in their possession to shore up the Federal Reserve. All bank safety deposit boxes were frozen and the contents (if applicable) were confiscated by the government

This article is a must read. It was written by Dr. Edwin Viera (NQ posts his credentials and vouches for him). The thing is, this article was written in 2006. It is “New Gold Seizure, Possibility or Paranoia” What is so disturbing is the fear of the Federal Reserve collapsing is what precirated this action. I’m going back and read it again, I can’t print it because my son has my printer. The link is below –

    http://www.newswithviews.com/Vieira/edwin35.htm

Now I’ll get back to the telephone.

  11. lee M. says:

P,S. It is important to read the WHOLE article to the very end.

  12. lee M. says:

Sorry, typo above I meant PRECIPITATED not precirated

got so upset my fingers wouldn’t work.

  13. First – I know of Dr. Edwin Viera; very credible. 2nd – confiscation of gold – the Fed was behind that. 3rd – confiscating gold again – gonna try again – not going to happen…just like confiscating guns. Americans are OVER IT!

  14. Lee – thanks for leaving the link.

  15. lee M. says:

When I was here before I neglected to thank you for all the work you have done on this post. You truly are performing a valuable service for the public. This post has been a terrific piece of work and you should be proud.

  16. Wow, Diamond Tiger…exhaustive research! Amazing!!

  17. PS–I kept the original petition drive announcement up and I’m still getting hits going to sign it…

And the number of views has been sky high…a noticeable increase in the amount of interest compared to earlier alerts…

  18. DT…check out this comment I posted to yesterday’s thread on China/Russia…

An upcoming conference will be STREAMED LIVE at the WN site…

    Excerpt from this post…above URL)

The first “Bernard L. Schwartz Economic Policy Symposium” will take place in Washington at the New America Foundation offices on Thursday, 26 March 2009. Attendance information is here.

Financier and former Loral CEO Bernard Schwartz has been trying to push the administration and Congress to realize that there are different kinds of deficits the nation has to struggle with — and the most important in his mind is leaving an “infrastruture deficit” to the next generation. He will be helping to open this important conference.

    snip

I will be moderating the meeting along with my colleague Sherle Schwenninger and New America Foundation President and New Yorker staff writer Steve Coll.

Bernard Schwartz. . .George Soros. . .Laura Tyson. . .Martin Wolf. . .Clyde Prestowitz. . .Desmond Lachman. . .Tom Gallagher. . .Steve Coll. . .Mark Zandi. . .William Gerrity. . .Leo Hindery. . .Richard Vague. . .Nicholas Lardy. . .Jeff Madrick. . .Sherle Schwenninger. . .and others make up quite a line up for a great meeting.

    snip

This entire conference will STREAM LIVE on this blog, The Washington Note between approximately 8:30 am and 1:00 pm EST on Thursday, 26 March 2009.

If you would like to attend, RSVP information is here.

The purpose we have in organizing this meeting is to try and position some of the key issues that should be considered at the London G-20 meeting and to begin to emphasize that the fumbling on economic policy needs to stop.

It’s time to begin organizing a Team B economic policy effort — even if it is organized by a network of concerned civil society leaders.

Doesn’t it all make you feel better? (SNARK)”

  19. if you want to know more about that symposium, contact steve clemons ( the washington note). this so-called journalist is on my fb friends list and i’ve been watching his every move.

  20. 1sgboom says:

First of all, we need to go after those 29 Republicans who voted “YEA”, and end their careers! Second, NEVER give in to the Gestapo tactics! NEVER surrender your gold, silver etc to those thieves! My mother had a 2 and a half dollar gold piece dated 1914 and did not turn it in…I now have it. Have any of you noticed how many “SELL YOUR OLD GOLD AND SILVER” commercials? DON”T BE FOOLED!!!! Your old jewelry is worth more than they pay you, beside, in time that old jewelry WILL be worth ALOT MORE!! And don’t think for a second that the ammo you have stored up won’t be worth something…It will be like GOLD!!

  21. David Gagin says:

Here’s what I wrote to my senator. This is the SECOND letter on the subject. The first was much nicer, but that was before I learned he voted to squelch debate.

I cannot state more emphatically that I DO NOT want to see National Service Reauthorization Act (S3577)/Serve America Act (S277) passed in the senate. I don’t care that it was rammed through the house by overwhelming margin. That this pile of leftist manure is sponsored by Edward Kennedy ought to be reason enough, however I would add that we can’t afford it, and I don’t want the control this gives the government over our children. Is that plain enough for you? We are in enough financial trouble as it is and we don’t need to add to it. This bill has nothing whatsoever to do with correcting the problem, but it is part of advancing leftist socialist agenda to finally bring this country to its knees. You swore an Oath to protect and defend our country and to abide by our constitution. This bill isn’t it! I expect you to uphold that oath. Voting yea for cloture doesn’t give me the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from knowing you’re listening. I want to see this and every other big government spending proposal have the debate that is appropriate, not get rammed down OUR throats, with barely a wimper of opposition! That’s what we pay you for, to speak up when the enemies of this country dare to betray us, and try to subjugate us. I know you are an intelligent and gifted representative, and I am counting on your experience…I also know you know better than to allow this to pass unchallenged.

  22. Genie – you rock! I went to the link and sent it onto WND

    go here:

    http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=92865

and David – check your email.

  23. DaddysDarlin says:

OMG, I absolutely cannot believe that our Constitution is taking yet another hit! WTF is wrong with these people? You would think that those in the senate would have a little better understanding about our Constitution and breaking those inalienable rights apart one by one! WTF?
How is it that these people can step upon, spit on, and trash our Constitution, they are supposed to be upholders of the Constitution, what the hell is happening to this country?
Obama needs to get the f**k out of OUR White House and go back to Kenya where he belongs, and take your kids, and the wicked witch of the mid-west and your little dog with you too!
You may need the dog to eat while you’re there, I don’t think your family is very well off.

  24. DD – wow, take a breath. We are all that frustrated but ya gotta calm down! 😉

My advice to you – stop looking at Bambi and start looking at the people that are really causing this – the World Central Bankers.

Visit the visual aids page for more information.

    Diamond 🙂

  25. David – excellent letter – I just wish I truly believed they might listen to us. It was obvious in september during the bank bailout bill that they weren’t. I will be posting a letter soon (another one – yeah, I just keep writing, even though I KNOW it ain’t gonna do any good here in hawaii) that is going to my senator.

What a bunch of banker’s sheeple they have become.

  26. I had gotten in trouble many many years ago in high school, in civics class (yes, they did teach it at one time), when I told the teacher that he was wrong and the government that was in Washington was “for the corporation, by the corporation, and of the corporation”! I was given lines to write as punishment and was given a private lecture to try to dissuade me from my view (it didn’t work). I still do not know exactly how I knew this information back then, but I did have a real gut feeling that I was right and he was wrong, and that he was only revealing PART of the truth. After much research, I now know that I was in fact totally right!

The fact that this communist “service” bill was in fact introduced in the legislature BEFORE Bambi was inaugurated is proof positive that he is not “in charge” and there is someone (care to guess who?) behind the scenes (don’t pay any attention to the man behind the curtain) pulling the strings! When life presents a problem, follow the money to find the answer and ask yourself “Who profits” and the answer will present itself.
