Today's AYFKM? AWARD! The Police Are Not Your Protectors

I would like to believe that the police really do want to “protect and serve”, but we all know that particular phrase is just lip service to what we have been experiencing all over our great country for years now.  I came across a news article that I could not let go by because of the real threat that surrounds us, and most people have become numb to….the police are not our protectors, and in most cases, they believe every single one of us is criminals that they have not yet caught doing something illegal.  How many of you would agree with that statement?

I left the Seattle area because of the Seattle Police staging SWAT teams during the SeaFair Parade.  That was the last straw that broke the camel’s back.  Since where do we need SWAT teams staging during a parade that is mainly put on for toddlers and small children?

Remember when police officers looked like this:

..and now they look like this; with military training:

Now read this and remember, they really do believe we are all criminals.  An effort to get this particular police officer fired is a worthless effort; we need to change the view police departments have of the general populace, and we also need to keep Bambi from making guns too expensive to own.  Remember, then the only people who will be armed will be the guys above and the real criminals.

TODAY’S ARE YOU FREAKIN’ KIDDING ME? AWARD goes to Trooper Ryan Sullivan of the Colorado State Patrol.

Injured good Samaritan ticketed for jaywalking

DENVER – A good Samaritan who helped push three people out of the path of a pickup truck before being struck and injured has gotten a strange reward for his good deed: A jaywalking ticket.

Family members said 58-year-old bus driver Jim Moffett and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Friday night.

Moffett suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He was in serious but stable condition Wednesday.

The Colorado State Patrol issued the citation. Trooper Ryan Sullivan said that despite Moffett’s intentions, jaywalking contributed to the accident.

Moffett had been driving his bus when the two women got off. In the interest of safety, he got out and, together with another passenger, helped the ladies cross.

Moffett’s stepson, Ken McDonald, said the driver of the pickup plowed into his stepfather, but not before Moffett pushed the two women out of the way.

When he awoke in intensive care, he learned of the ticket. “His reaction was dazed and confused. I was a little angry,” said McDonald.

The other man also was cited for jaywalking, while the pickup driver was cited with careless driving that led to injury. Sullivan said the two elderly women haven’t been cited but the investigation is ongoing.

Check out that last line;

“Sullivan said the two elderly woman haven’t been cited but the investigation is ongoing.”

Diamond, I read this in a news report and couldn’t believe that it wasn’t a joke. That poor bus driver. It really does prove that old saying about no good deed going unpunished.

The two elderly ladies will probably be cited for jay-walking, also.

With snow and ice on the street and two elderly passengers trying to cross the street after alighting the bus, the driver gallantly saved their lives from a reckless driver. The driver of the car which hit the bus driver got ticketed also, I understand, so I guess we’re supposed to be grateful for that.

That cop hit it lucky. Two citations at the same clip, and maybe even four if he tickets the two elderly ladies who almost lost their lives.

What in Satan’s name is this world coming to? Has everybody gone cukoo?

  4. My question is who was the guy in the pickup? I think the answer to that question might shed some light onto why Moffett and the other man were ticketed.

  5. Oh come on GG – I thought that kind of crap only happened here in hawaii…snark.

  6. Cops on general are completely unfit for the title of “human”, seems to be a prerequisite for the job. EVERY cop I have ever met, seems to have a giant chip on his shoulder, and he is probably making up for a smaller one else where. “To protect and to serve” is what they have on the squad cars in New Orleans, but they seem to take pride in doing the exact opposite.
